Seemingly, those opposed to the WSU College Republican's border fence demonstration last week would have been better served to ignore the whole thing and let it die down on its own.
Instead, two WSU professors now stand accused of attempting to deny students's free speech rights through racial epithets and abuse of power.
It's getting worse. This is threatening to turn into a full-fledged scandal.
I have received reports that Jared Johnson, the Director of Multicultural Student Affairs for the ASWSU, has allegedly contacted members of the College Republicans and told them that they are being childish and that the club did not deserve to be on campus. Even worse, he allegedly said the ASWSU was ACTIVELY PURSUING YOUTUBE TO HAVE THE FENCE DEMONSTRATION VIDEO REMOVED.
If this is true, it is a shameful attempt at censorship by a student organization and will almost certainly guarantee the kind of national publicity that the ASWSU is obviously hoping to avoid. I can also guarantee that the video will end up being hosted at a variety of other places on the Internet in the extremely unlikely event YouTube takes it down.
