Fact Check

LIE: PARDner-in-Chief TV Reed claims that Pullman has Laura McAloon on retainer, and appealing at the different court levels does not put a financial strain on the city. He claims, “The issue over attorney fees is just another way to take the focus off the threat Wal-Mart poses."

FACT: Litigation is an extra cost that is beyond the regular $7,000 per month rate. The city's contract with Preston Gates Ellis (Laura McAloon's law firm) reads as follows:

General Counsel. It is agreed that Counsel will bill the City a monthly rate of $7,000 per month. This retainer will purchase up to forty-six (46) hours per month of general counsel work, exclusive of litigation or specialized contract work. Hours worked in excess of the retainer hours will billed at the discounted hourly rate given to municipal clients, which is ten percent (10%) less than the attorney's lowest hourly rate.

Litigation. Litigation, to include administrative, land use, or other adjudicative proceedings, shall be billed at the firm's regular lowest hourly rate for the attorney assigned and those matters shall be billed separately by each litigation matter.
But, what can you expect from a man who over wrote a year ago:

"At the same time, news arrives that a store that makes much more sense for Pullman, Target, has plans to build here."
Note to Ryan Bentley: You might want to do some simple fact checking of your own before you publish Reed's ravings.

Meanwhile, one egomaniacal liar and his kooky cronies hold up the progress of a whole city.
