A New June Mix

June is an important month at Post Apocalyptic Bohemia, & made even more so after Portland was dealt the coolest & wettest spring since records have been kept. The garden is certainly green. Yet your host is pale & petulant & peevish. The Husband & I have lived in Seattle or Portland for 30 years, but that was not enough of enlightened edification tp prepare for Spring 2001.

When I finally reach Saturday, I will have worked 16 days in a row, sometimes 15 hour days, part of the stretch I was sick. This was all because my assistant, went off & got married, wed to a young lady that I hired & they fell in love on the job. They have me to thank for their happiness. That is what I do, I spread happiness.

Saturday I will start a week long staycation. It will begin with 2 days of temperatures in the low 80s & blue skies. I am so very ready for some Vitamin D.

June warrants several of my custom playlists that are very much in demand in my circle. I allow myself to become unnecessarily gay in June, as it is Gay Pride in Seattle & Portland & the month of the Tony Awards, a high holiday at Post Apocalyptic Bohemia. God in Her infinite generosity has aligned Gay Pride & the Tonys to be on the same day! Now that is Gay!

I celebrate Pride by not going to the parade or the Pride Festival at the waterfront. I have a deep disapproval for &a need to avoid large gatherings of people who are not usually positioned in a place they would normally never be, unless they are there to see me, which would be understandable. On Pride Day I stay home, smoke some pot & play show tunes rather loudly as I sing & dance along, a custom that dates back to 1969. I appreciate the continuity.

I offer up a just completed Custom Mix for my respite. If for any reason you find this mix to be amusing & alluring, simply email me with your snail mail address & I will send you one. That is how much I love you.

Born On This Day- February 27th... Elizabeth Taylor Hilton Wilding Todd Fisher Burton Burton Warner Fortensky

She came into my focus as my mother sat me down at 5 years of age & explained the entire Elizabeth Taylor + Eddie Fisher – Debbie Reynolds = scandal equation. I got it. She remains my mother’s favorite star; they are the same age & were born in the same month. She is a favorite of mine & I think she is the last of the truly great Hollywood Royalty, & very possibly the most beautiful woman of all time. I love her deeply.

Taylor has been a trusted friend to the gay community, & we have loved her right back. She was very close friends & a confidant of gay men: Roddy McDowell, Rock Hudson, George Cukor, Noel Coward, James Dean & most famously to Montgomery Clift. Were there ever any 2 actors at the apex of their beauty, more stunning than Taylor & Clift kissing in A Place In The Sun?

Elizabeth Taylor is a conundrum: truly classy, but perfectly campy, deeply kind, but shamelessly embarrassing, perennially lonely, & serially monogamous. Pills, coke, booze, men, the commercials, the mascara, Studio 54, the guest appearances on soap operas… Elizabeth Taylor & I got through the 1970s together. She gave audacious performances in film adaptations of “gay” plays as Tennessee Williams’s Suddenly Last Summer & Cat On A Hot Tim Roof, & Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

I met her once, at the 50th Anniversary of MGM Ball. I was thrillingly treated to a 7 minute conversation. She amazingly asked about me. I explained that I was a Theatre major at Loyola Marymount University & Taylor quizzed me on my curriculum & my stage roles. I told her was a huge fan of her work. She touched my arm & looked at me with the famous violet eyes & murmured: "I always thought that I was a fine actress, but I spent a lifetime feeling that I was held back because I have such a terrible speaking voice. The coaches at MGM attempted to help me & I did improve, but I will never shake the fact the dreadful small voice was what stopped me from being truly great..." She was only in her early 40s, wearing a beautiful canary yellow mini-dress with yellow flowers in her hair. She was smoking a cigarette with a holder. She was faultlessly beautiful. I nearly fainted.

I appreciate that, like me, she has had a taste for expensive pharmaceuticals, rich fabrics & rich men. I tremble at the thought of her 8 tumultuous marriages & the public denunciation by the Vatican as a home wrecker. I love her for her dramatic tracheotomy scar, of which she was never ashamed. I appreciate her love affair with jewelry that inspired a book simply titled My Love Affair with Jewelry… it looks handsome on the shelf with my own volume- My Love Affair with Whiskey. I admire her unswerving devotion to her friends, to gay people, & for gay activism & attention to fund raising for HIV/AIDS. My feelings are simpatico with Elizabeth Taylor. My mother loves us both, we have both lived with incidents replete with slurred speech, jokes about weight gain, inelegant gestures of elegance & displays of dignity in the face of devastation.

On Oscar day today, the Oscar winning actress turns 78  & she is hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for for treatment of congestive heart failure. I send her love & healing white light. A world without Elizabeth Taylor will not be a good place.

There is Hope for the Rest of Us

This disabled couple proves that there is hope for the rest of us. He has no arms and she has no legs but what they are able to accomplish is remarkable. She takes care of him good and he’s able to do almost everything with his feet. Moreover, in their everyday life they do all the housework without any help from the others. They are an amazing couple. More images after the break...

    Burning Down The House

It started as it has started 100 times in the past 30 years. My Friday night & I wish to do some serious relaxing, The Husband & I have a couple of cocktails & smoke just a tiny bit of Mary Jane while we listen to one of my  terrific custom mix CDs. At Post Apocalyptic Bohemia we believe in flattering light, & the Husband is the master. He was looking particularly handsome & even after 3 decades. I was feeling the love.

I have every reason to believe that he was catching my vibe, because he started in on the old tried & true romance routine: flattering light, cocktails, music… & major changes in the look & layout of the house, That is how the Husband gets his freak on. Nothing makes me as horny as a new look at the house.

That’s right, the Husband moved furniture from room to room, changed out pillows & bedding, re-hung the well hung art & mirrors & even painted. The process always scares me, but the result always puts me “in the mood”. This is what the Husband does best, design, & romance. Here is what he did last night, before we got in the hot tub. It worked for me. This is what happened to our tiny dining room:

    Lock of Love

Image from Panoramio is by Meditation

Locks of love are the padlocks fixed by loving couples, on to a fence or a pole or metallic chain/string alongside some wall etc at a public place, to symbolize their eternal love. A couple would hang a padlock after inscribing their name or initials on it and throw the key away so that their love is locked forever. Some couple use two inter-twined locks, each lock bearing their name/initials. Besides lovers, often family members and.......

Tips to make your love alive

Everybody wants to tell their partner that how much they love them. Even if you don?t tell you should do the same. Now you would want to know what you could do to keep your relationship stronger and fresh and full of life!
Here are some ideas which could be beneficial in keeping your relationship fresh throughout the twelve months. The basic idea involved is to be 'romantic?:

1.A cute greeting card: You must have felt on many occasions how important the greeting cards are. Without any special occasion, you could give you partner a card with the theme 'I love you?.

2.Leave hand-written notes for your sweetheart : If you don?t fancy giving the card directly in hand, you could write 'I Love You? on a paper, on a dry leaf (if you know bit of art), on an envelope with some tiny gift inside (Like a pen, a key chain) and hide it in his/her drawer or his/her wallet. It would be a real fun for him/her to find these notes? Try It! These will make him/her feel special.

    3. Magic of touch heal : It is said that 'Human touch is a great healer?. Now, whenever you get a chance and as often you can remember touch his/her knee, shoulder, hand or back with you hand.

    4. A beautiful Massage for your sweetheart : You could give foot rubs (You could use some essential oils); shoulder rubs to each other which will give relaxation to his/her body.

    5. Hold the face to make him/her feel extra special : You could hold his/her face in your hands; this is also a loving human touch. It might connect you back to the good old, your first days.

    6. Arrange a surprise picnic : You arrange a day out to a park with her/him. This could be more loving if it is a surprise picnic. It would show that you are willing to go an extra mile to keep your relationship alive.

    7. Share Some Activities to give comfort : Try out things which are not done in the normal routine likewise you could share some of his/her activities while giving a level of 'comfort? to your partner. You could help out in cooking, in hanging out the clothes, looking after the baby while she could have a nap, help cleaning his/her vehicle etc.

8.Sing a romantic song to show how much you love him/her : You could sing a song he/she loves. You don?t have to be a good singer for this. The main thing you try achieving here is to give a 'comfort Zone? to the person.

    9. Cooking : If most of the time she is cooking for you, how about getting up little early and makes a nice meal/breakfast and have it together, in the bed or at the table. It could be a surprise meal.

    10. Surprise : Without any occasion, you could surprise him/her by giving a beautiful flower of his/her choice.
Hopefully you will try these tips, and be happy to be successful. Make your relationship alive and loving. That is life!

    My Love

Every time I look at you my heart skips a beat I wonder if you know, my love, that my heart is at your feet I leave it there for you to do whatever that you wishYou could take my heart, and love me,Or just leave me in this bliss.

    - Ana Martinez -

Sometimes I think I still can’t live without you.
    A dull ache inside me
Realizes my yearning to be a part of your life. The years have come and gone.
    I never hear your name.
I don’t even know anyone who knows you. Most of the time I believe I have changed I
Outgrown the ME who loved YOU.
    Then,A song, a scene, a scent
Catches my heart off guard,And reminds me of you.Sometimes,
Even after all these years,I think I still can’t live without you.
