More good news about the so-called "economic devastation" that Wal-Mart will bring to Pullman. I have blogged previously about :
Ace Hardware renovating the Safeway dark store in the Wheatland MallPullman Building Supply's plans construct a 140,000 square foot store adjacent to the planned Wal-Mart location on Bishop Boulevard. A planned 100,000 square foot retail development on 10 acres off South Grand Ave. by Duane Brelsford to "add to the 'synergy' being created by the proposed Wal-Mart." The construction of Crimson Village on Bishop Boulevard by Vandervelt Developments "because Wal-Mart attracts a lot of shoppers, and other businesses want to situate themselves nearby."Duane Brelsford is also looking to lease the KFC/Taco Bell building on South Grand and plans to tear down the old Leisure Lanes bowling alley next door to make way for retail space because "Wal-Mart's the fly paper."The three vacant commercial lots left on Bishop Boulevard are going for $1,890,000, $1,225,000, and $477,750 in the "fastest growing commercial area in Pullman."Today, Palousitics learned that Potlatch #1 Federal Credit Union out of Lewiston has plans to locate a branch inside the new Pullman Wal-Mart Supercenter. This will give those who don't qualify for membership in the WSECU or have less than stellar credit a chance to be a part of a credit union with all of its advantages.
All this before Wal-Mart even has broken ground. I knew Wal-Mart would bring new business to Pullman, but even I'm amazed by this explosion of growth.
