In today's Daily Evergreen, student writers Jordan Hightower and Nick Sowle
bravely take on Pullman's most controversial issue,
the Big Blue Heart. This is not the first time the Evergreen
has exposed this simmering conflict. Officially named the
Technicolor Heart by artist Jim Dine, it has been a part of our town and campus for a number of years. When confronted by this issue, most choose to look the other way but I think I have found a solution.
We all know of Moscow's efforts to deem itself the "Heart of the Arts" , they even have their own building. To show our appreciation for Nancy Chaney's efforts here in Washington state, I propose that WSU donate or lend indefinitely, the Big Blue Heart to the City of Moscow
for prominent display at the Heart of the Arts 1912 Center. That way, every time Nancy walks by the 1912 Center, she will be reminded
of our deep feelings for her. And it's about time we started reciprocating a little up-creek what Moscow has been sending us down-creek all these years.
